Pitt One of Schools On NY JRs List

Brian Beckford, a versatile 6'6'' 185 pound swingman from Christ the King High School in Middle Village, New York, is a member of the class of 2004 who brings some intriguing skills to the table.
Beckford handles the ball extremely well for his size, and often slides out onto the perimeter. He is extremely long and athletic, an able shot blocker. Strength will be one of the keys for Beckford, as he is spindly and athletic but will ultimately need to pack on more muscle.

In the very early going, Beckford has heard from Pittsburgh, Boston University, and Rider, programs that have done an excellent job scouring New York City for talent over the last couple of years, particularly the latter two. Iona and Drexel came in to see Beckford and teammates Justin Marshall, Japhet McNeil, and Mitchell Beauford work out this fall, as well.
Beckford plays with The Brooklyn-Queens aka Sonday Express, coached by Artie Cox, who is also an assistant coach at Christ The King. He is not a known commodity on the AAU circuit. Expect that to change next summer.
Brian, who lives in the East Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn, carries an 83 average in the classroom.
