Pitt lands North Carolina point guard

Over the weekend, Josh Newkirk tripped to Pittsburgh and things went well.
Tuesday night, head coach Jamie Dixon did an in home visit with the Raleigh (N.C.) Word of God product that went even better.
By Wednesday morning, sources close to the three-star point guard who ranks No. 119 in the 2013 Rivals150 were indicating that he was a done deal to Pitt. Then, Newkirk let everybody know an afternoon announcement was coming.
Finally, Newkirk did what was expected and announced that he would be a Panther.
One of the nation's top athletes at the point guard position, Newkirk can get to the hole in a hurry. He's strong to the rim, can really push the tempo in transition and has the tools to be an outstanding defender.
An excellent change of pace/compliment to current Pitt freshman James Robinson, Newkirk does have some work he needs to do. He can be a bit wild at times and he has to continue to improve his jumper to make defenders be more honest with him.
Newkirk joins four-star power forward Mike Young to make up Pitt's early recruiting class.
