Pitt grabs some backcourt help

Jamie Dixon and his staff at Pittsburgh have been on the hunt for another 2012 guard. Monday night, they got him.
6-foot-5 senior Chris Jones of Teaneck (N.J.) High made the call for the Panthers.

"I've committed to Pittsburgh," Jones told Rivals.com. "It was just a good fit for me. It's a good school for me and the relationship I have with Brandin (Knight) with him being a Jersey guy like me meant a lot."
A versatile player who plays all three backcourt positions for his 28-0 high school team, Jones has averaged 21 points, 8.5 rebounds and five assists as a senior.
His versatility is something the Pitt staff liked.
"I think they see me as a guy who they can put on the floor and do whatever needs to be done," said Jones. "I feel comfortable in that role."
Like many kids, Jones had to make a tough decision in the fall when he decided to wait and see who else offered rather than sign. That decision has paid off.
"It was tough and it was a little stressful not knowing what schools are going to wait for you," I just needed to find the right fit for me and it was worth waiting for Pitt."
According to Jones, he'll take an official visit after the season. Now, he's focused on chasing a state title and is excited about what his commitment means.
"I knew committing to Pitt means I'm taking on a challenge," said Jones. "I've got to go there and work hard and prepare myself and get my body right and all of that. I'm looking forward to the challenge."
