Pilgrim Contributes In Victory

Mike Pilgrim, a 6-7, 210 pound power forward/small forward from Brewster Academy in New Hampshire, contributed 20 points last night to help his team upend Trinity High. It was a blowup victory so Pilgrim didn't play his normal amount of minutes as head coach Jason Smith utilized everyone on his bench.
Pilgrim, who signed his letter of intent with Cincinnati during the Fall signing period, is trying to make the transformation from the power forward slot to the small forward position. "He knocked down a couple of 15-footers last night," Smith told us. "He is showing improvement."

This would be good news for the staff at Cincinnati. If Pilgrim progresses in this area, the Bearcats will be even stronger.
Pilgrim previously made his decision in favor of Cincinnati because: "Besides being home, they would take care of me as would my family. Cincinnati is already a great program. The other programs were getting there. Coach Huggins is a great coach too."
Pilgrim also stated that Cincinnati gives him the best opportunity to progress at the wing position due to style of play. The Bearcats will also have James White next year to give Cincinnati some strength at that particular position.
Last season at Purcell Marian, Pilgrim averaged 20 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks per game. He enjoyed a productive summer for Mike Duncan's Cleveland Basketball Club program. Pilgrim picked Cincinnati over Seton Hall, Virginia, and Boston College.
