Peters headed to Big 12

2011 post player Richard Peters of Wolfboro (N.H.) Brewster Academy fell in love with a Big 12 school on his unofficial visit this spring. On Monday night Peters ended his recruitment with a commitment to the burgeoning Big 12 power.
Peters, 6-foot-9, 260-pounds and originally from Toronto, committed to Oklahoma according to his travel team coach Kevin Scarlett of Canada Team Takeover.

Peters, who averaged 10 points and seven rebounds per game as a sophomore at Sagemont High School, was also being recruited by Connecticut, Florida State, Georgia and Louisville amongst others.
"Richard is a skilled post player," said Sagemont head coach Adam Ross. "He's not a phenomenal athlete who is just going to jump over people, but he uses his body to create space. He really shoots and passes the ball well.
"Richard fell in love with Oklahoma on his unofficial visit this spring. He's been talking about doing this for a while. Oklahoma did a terrific job recruiting him."
Scarlett had high praise for Coach Capel's recruiting effort.
"The biggest thing is that Coach Capel showed more interest, along with the rest of the staff, than any other school," said Scarlett. "Coach Capel put in the work and recruited Richard like he was an assistant coach."
Peters is the first 2011 Oklahoma commitment.
