Pete Padgett On Sons Decision

David Padgett made the decision from his gut, according to his dad, Pete. "I know you might not buy it," Mr. Padgett said. "But he was so torn over the three schools. It was impossible to decide between those schools. So he made it from his gut."
Mr. Padgett, also David's high school basketball coach, told us that the three schools left -- Arizona, Kansas, and North Carolina performed well in the recruiting area. "North Carolina has great guys and coaches," Mr. Padgett said.

"They made an incredible effort in recruiting David. They came from way behind in this process to be one of the final three and a viable candidate. Arizona has such a great coach too. We have a lot of history with the program of Arizona. It was extremely tough to tell North Carolina and Arizona of the decision."
But there was a winner. "I haven't spoken to coach Roy Williams yet," laughed Mr. Padgett. "But my wife and David spoke to him last night with his decision. I will speak to coach Williams later. David is very excited.
"It got really stressful at the end. When Arizona and Kansas made their in homes on Monday, I said that was enough. I didn't want to see David get any more stressed. He was ready to make a decision."
