Pena prepares for big announcement

6-foot-8 220 pound forward Antonio Pena will announce his college decision tomorrow afternoon according to his uncle, John Pena. Louisville, St. John's, Cincinnati, Villanova, Georgia, and Florida were the finalists. Rivals.com has the scoop on where he's headed.
"He's going to Villanova," John Pena said today. "They have been on him the longest, and his relationship with Jay Wright really just won him over in the end. There were a lot of really great programs, like Louisville and St. John's that wanted him, but he felt most comfortable with Villanova."

Pena has lost some weight and transformed his game in the process from a guy who mostly played inside, occassionaly popping out for jumpshots, to a dangerous wing player who can shoot the ball or put it on the floor and drive.
He had several standout performances this spring, including terrific efforts at the Rumble in the Bronx and the NBPA Camp in Richmond, VA. Pena opened some eyes last week at the adidas Superstar Camp in Georgia, and coaches rushed to turn up the heat, but in the final analysis, the school that had been there the longest reaped the benefits.
Pena will play with the Juice All Stars this summer and compete at the Five-Star Camp in Honesdale, PA at the end of August.
He is Villanova's fifth recruit in the Class of 2006, joining 6-foot-4 Reggie Redding, 6-foot-8 Kraidon Woods, 6-foot-10 Andrew Ott, and 6-foot-9 Casiem Drummond.
