Pangos: Saturday breakdown

CARSON, Calif. - The Pangos All-American Camp provides a great opportunity to catch a look at some of the best prospects in the country. Aaron Gordon was one of a group of standouts on Saturday.

Aaron Gordon 2013, combo forward- A high-level athlete, Gordon is quick off the floor and changes direction with the dribble at an impressive rate of speed. Right now his strengths are slashing to the basket, making athletic/hustle plays and finding open teammates while he is on the move. As he learns to slow down his game a little on the offensive end, he should become a better outside shooter.

One scouting colleague compared him to a young Shawn Marion. That comparison makes a lot of sense to me.

Kris Dunn 2012, point guard- One of the top emerging prospects this spring, Dunn was impressive on Saturday. Sticking with the NBA comparisons, Dunn reminded me of Mario Chalmers in terms of physique, body movement and his game off the dribble. Dunn plays with composure, has a great change of pace and left-to-right crossover move and he is a reliable finisher as well.

Demarquise Johnson 2012, wing- An athlete who thrives along the baseline, Johnson attacked the basket with authority and knocked down three-pointers from the wing as well.

Alessandro Alberto 2013, point guard- At 6-foot-3, Alberto has nice size for his position and made a variety of athletic and crafty plays during the day. He isn't an overwhelming athlete, but a good athlete with a great feel for the game.

Alex Caruso 2012, combo guard- Caruso fits in the same category of Alberto. A little taller than Alberto, Caruso made a big impact on the court with his skilled and savvy game. He handled the ball well, found open teammates and made shots from all over the court including a couple aggressive finishes above the rim.

Xavier Johnson 2012, wing- Johnson continually worked his way with the dribble into the paint for scoring opportunities. The athletic lefty also looked good shooting the ball from the outside.

Tevin Glass 2012, combo forward- Like Dunn, Glass is a prospect whose stock is on the rise. Extremely athletic, Glass is proving he can make plays with the basketball and can score. All the while, he is continually making athletic/hustle plays.

Jordan Bell 2013, power forward- No one made better use of their athleticism than Bell. He had to have blocked more shots than any other player during the day and was a terror on the glass as well.

Shabazz Muhammad 2012, wing- The top perimeter prospect in the 2012 class, Muhammad looked great in transition on Saturday. He is becoming a stronger athlete and is a fearless finisher.

Twymond Howard 2012, wing- Playing with great energy, Howard was effective handling the ball and scoring in the midrange.

Chad Rykhoek 2012, power forward- Rykhoek has emerged this spring as a very promising athlete. He moves well and is skilled and appears to just be hitting his stride. He had a productive night session on Saturday.

Andre Drummond 2012, post & Anthony Bennett 2012, combo forward- It doesn't quite seem fair to have these two prospects on the same team. They are both physical athletes who are clicking together as teammates. Bennett's passionate and aggressive style of play seems to have rubbed off on Drummond, who had another strong day on Saturday.
