Pangos All Star Game recap

Cypress, Calif.- James Harden and Drew Gordon arrived Sunday morning for the Pangos All American Camp and had strong performances for opposing teams in the All Star Game. But it was the help that Harden got from his teammates, including the active play of Matt Simpkins that propelled the White squad to a 107-93 point victory.

White squad

Matt Simpkins- Finished with 17 points to go along with 8 rebounds and a block. Simpkins plays with energy, and his skill game appeared to improve over the two days at the camp. He looked comfortable shooting his jump hook this morning, and he even rattled in a three-pointer in the all star game.

At the beginning of the day, Simpkins told Rivals.com that he will most likely attend either Arizona or Connecticut. Both schools have offered.

James Harden- Tied with a game high 19 points. Started the game with two three-pointers, but the cerebral player also contributed with assists, rebounds and steals.

Harden has a top five of Arizona State, Arizona, Washington, Washington State and USC. All five schools have offered, and Harden said he definitely plans on visiting Washington, Arizona State and Washington State.

Howard Thompkins- Tied with a game high 19 points. Thompkins motor improved throughout the camp, and he displayed his versatile skill set with three three-pointers in the all star game.

Thompkins, who is in the process of transferring to Oak Hill, has offers from Florida, Florida State, Georgia and Georgia Tech. He is also interested in Texas, North Carolina and Clemson.

Jamelle Horne- Scored 18 points, although two of those points were for the Blue squad when he switch over with 14 minutes left in the game since Chris Allen and J.J. Hickson had to go to the airport. Horne had a number of dunks in transition and some nice one on one moves in the half court. He also contributed with rebounds and a couple assists.

Derrick Favors- Scored 12 points, primarily on dunks. The 2009 prospect has a very bright future.

Korie Lucious- Finished with 9 points. He also had around 5 assists, but nearly matched that number with turnovers. Played risky with the ball and had some crowd pleasing one on one moves. Couldn't find his rhythm from behind the arc.

Darnell Gant- Scored 6 points. More of a finesse offensive player at this point. Shoots the ball well off the dribble. He also had a couple nice blocks.

Leonard Washington- Hit for 5 points, including a three-pointer. Was not as active in this game as he had been during the camp. Some of that might be due to his being matched up against Wyndell McKines.

Jesse Woodard- Scored 5 points and had a number of assists in transition.

Chandler Parsons- Only hit for 2 points. Struggled defensively throughout the game.

Jeremy Hazell- Did not score and seemed out of touch in the all star game after having big performances throughout the camp. Settled for four misses from deep.

Blue squad

Wendell McKines- Led the way in scoring with 18 points, mostly on dunks. Plays a full throttle 94-foot game. Definitely needs to improve his outside shot to round out his game, but regardless, he is an impact player with a thirst for competition.

Senario Hillman- Scored 14 points on slashing moves to the basket. He also passed the ball well off his penetration.

J.J. Hickson- Scored 12 points on a variety of post moves before leaving the game early.

Martavius Adams- Scored 11 points. He was active around the basket and had some nice catches. Struggled with his jumper.

Drew Gordon- After a day of participating in the state track championship, Gordon went for 10 points, 12 rebounds and 3 blocks. Despite his evident fatigue, Gordon played a highly energetic game. He scored well in the post, while also defending and rebounding.

Austin Daye- Scored 9 points and had a number of nice passes off the dribble. Daye is becoming a very confident offensive player.

Kenyan Harmon- Scored 8 points. Made a variety of moves, but struggled to finish on his first attempts. He got several of his points by following up his own misses.

Chris Allen- Scored 7 efficient points before leaving the game early. He had a monster game earlier in the day before the all star game.

GJ Villarino- As a 2009 prospect, Villarino did an admirable job at the point guard position. Finished with 3 points, but played like he belonged.

Billy White- Did not score, but had some nice passes.

Jon Reed- Made the team but could not play due to a broken right hand (non-shooting hand).
