After visiting Maryland, North Carolina State and Virginia Tech, Painter has committed to Sidney Low and the Wolfpack of North Carolina State.

"It's done," said Painter's head coach at Chatham (Va.) Hargrave Military Academy Kevin Keatts. "My man is going with the Wolfpack."
Painter, a 6-foot-9, 210-pound power forward will give North Carolina State some needed depth inside.
"I just think he had a comfort level with them," said Keatts. "Coach Lowe was heavily involved in his recruitment, and certainly he felt he had an opportunity to play right away."
Painter is the sixth prospect to join the 2009 North Carolina recruiting class which is currently ranked No. 19 nationally.
Painter, the No. 127 ranked prospect in the Rivals150, joins four-star prospects Lorenzo Brown and Richard Howell and Scott Wood, Jordan Vandenberg and Josh Davis in the North Carolina State recruiting class.
