Padgett Talks About Recruiting

David Padgett, a 6-11, 235-pound power forward/center from Reno High School in Reno, Nevada, is one of the best players in the 2003 class and one of the most sought after student/athletes. And it's easy to see
Padgett told us he will visit Stanford and Arizona next month. Padgett plans on making a fall decision. Padgett, of California and a forward, indicated he is likely to officially visit North Carolina, Kansas, and California in the Fall.

"I don't have a leader right now," Padgett told us. "I need to see all of the schools on campus trips before I make a decision. Right now I am not close to making one."
Padgett told us that he isn't looking to grab a starting job as a freshman, but would like to play and have some impact as a first-year player. "Distance won't matter," Padgett told us. "I just want to find a place where I am comfortable with the school, coaches and players. This is what I will try to find on my visits."
Padgett finished up his year averaging 23 points and 14 rebounds per game. He will attend the ABCD camp. "I want to work on my ballhandling and outside shot," Padgett said. "This is what I would like to improve this summer."
People are noticing Padgett's skills. "I am trying to improve my perimeter game this season," David told us. "I want to be able to handle the ball better and shoot it better from the outside."
Padgett plays on a young team -- only one senior was aboard the roster this year. But positive things are expected in the next year of Padgett and Reno High School. Reno has been invited to the Slam Dunk to the Beach next December. And one of the reasons is Padgett.
