OU, NW, BC To Visit Arkansas WF

Marcus Monk, a 6-foot-6, 205-pound wing forward from East Poinsett County High School in Lepanto, Arkansas figures to have a busy week. At 8:00 AM on Wednesday, the open contact period starts and several high major Division 1 coaches will be making their presence known.
Monk had a big-time year for Coach Kevin Kyzer and he’s being rewarded. Schools like Arkansas, Florida, Kansas, Connecticut, Oklahoma, Stanford, Northwestern and Boston College are showing quite a bit of interest.

“Everything is pretty much the same,” Monk said. “Coach Sampson from Oklahoma will stop by at the end of the month. Coach Heath from Arkansas will visit me at the end of this week. Stanford, Northwestern and Boston College will also visit this week for an open evaluation in the gym.”
Monk averaged 26 points, 14 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game and, in the process led East Poinsett to the State semifinals and an undefeated conference record.
“I haven’t decided what schools I will officially visit,” he said. “I will wait until the evaluation process is over before a decision is made. I’m in the process of practicing for this summer and will focus on that.”
Monk will spend the summer traveling with his Arkansas Hawks team. He’ll start the summer off with a trip to Houston in a few weeks and, from that point on, will make stops in various places around the United States.
If the Hawks happen to have an off week or have a period when they aren’t playing, Monk will then travel with a team from Mississippi.
