It was just a few weeks ago that Oklahoma lost a four-star guard. Monday, it added one as shooting guard Kameron McGusty committed, helping to offset the loss of point guard Payton Pritchard deciding to rethink things.
The No. 36 player in the class of 2016, McGusty is a 6-foot-5 two guard from Katy (Texas) Seven Lakes and he announced his commitment via twitter.
"Truly blessed to say I have committed to the University of Oklahoma. Feels good to be a Sooner," tweeted McGusty early Monday afternoon.
One of the spring's biggest risers, McGusty has taken his game to a new level while playing on the grassroots basketball circuit with the Houston Defenders.
A dynamic backcourt scorer, McGusty does his damage because he never stops moving or gives his opponent a chance to rest. He is in constant motion running his defender through screens, does a very good job of creating separation off the dribble and he can use his size and athleticism to create more space or finish through contact when he needs to.
Given that the Sooners will be losing backcourt firepower from players like Buddy Hield and Isaiah Cousins, McGusty fills a huge need. He joins Rivals150 combo forward Kristian Doolittle to make up the Sooners 2016 recruiting class.
