Osby takes home MVP

2008 four-star prospect Romero Osby has bounced back quite well from a summer wrist injury. The 6-foot-7, 210-pound small forward went across town with his Northeast Lauderdale (Miss.) High School team to Southeast Lauderdale and won MVP honors at the Sam Dale Tournament.
Osby put up 19 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 7 blocks in a 61-59 championship game victory over Kemper County.

With averages of 24 points, 10 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 3 blocks, Osby has been watched by head coaches Bruce Pearl and Mark Gottfried and by assistants from Kansas, Mississippi State, Florida, Alabama and Florida State.
Osby is still wide open in his recruitment according to his father.
"He's still open to anyone recruiting him," said Daryl Osby. "We won't sit down and try to figure it out until after the summer. Then we will decide who he wants to visit."
Romero Osby scouting report:
A jack of all trades type of player, Osby has the size and versatility to impact the game both inside and outside. Developing into a point forward type of player, he is very good at penetrating (loves to go left) and then finding open teammates. Needs to improve the consistency of his outside jumper and improve his lateral quickness defending the perimeter.
