Oppland Has Offers After Solid Summer w/Gateway

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Dan Oppland, a 6-7, 215 pound power forward from Whitfield H.S. in St. Louis, Mo., has received a number of scholarship offers from Division I schools after a fine summer of play for the Gateway traveling basketball program.
Oppland was once again ultra solid last night for Gateway, pumping in 26 points as Gateway outlasted Omaha Tournament Gold, 64-62.

Oppland is a very fundamentally sound low post player who always plays hard. He does not jump out of the gym, but he's a smart player who always seems to pile up points and rebounds by getting good position and playing an unselfish game.
Oppland said he has been offered scholarships thus far by Valparaiso, SW Missouri State, Wright State, Western Kentucky and Davidson.
In addition to those programs, Illinois Chicago, Columbia and Yale are on him hard, and he has received phone calls from high major programs such as Illinois, Iowa State, Texas Tech, St. Louis and Rice. Those latter five schools have yet to offer at this stage.
As a junior at Whitfield this past year, Oppland averaged 22 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block per game.
He said he has a 3.8 GPA and has scored a 24 on the ACT and has also received a qualifying ACT score.
Oppland kicked off a strong summer at the adidas ABCD Camp in New Jersey, and then traveled with Gateway to the Jerry Mullen Shootout in Kansas and the adidas Big Time in Las Vegas prior to arriving here in Los Angeles for the Best of the Summer.
