Tuesday morning, reports surfaced that 2017's No. 32 player Nick Weatherspoon was down to a final two of Mississippi State and N.C. State. That was news to the four-star prospect.
A 6-foot-2 combo guard from Camden (Miss.) Velma Jackson, Weatherspoon told Rivals.com that he has not cut his list down.
“I haven’t cut down my list yet and I’m not ready to cut down my list," said Weatherspoon. "When I feel like I’m ready to cut down my list I will let people know.”
While they aren't currently his final two, MSU and NC State are certainly deep in the mix with Weatherspoon. Others involved include Kansas, Kentucky, Ohio State and North Carolina.
So far, the only official visit that Weatherspoon has set is to Mississippi State -- where his brother Quinndary Weatherspoon is a sophomore guard -- but he's got a few schools lined up for in home visits.
“I have North Carolina, Kansas and NC State coming for in home visits," said Weatherspoon. "After that I will try to st up a couple of official visits.”
Weatherspoon stressed that he has no set timetable for making a decision and said that what he sees on his visits will play a large role in his decision.
“It’s just my relationship with the coaches," said Weatherspoon. "I want to see if they can develop me and make be better on and off the court. I’m also going to look at the guys who are there and see if I can get along with the people on the team.
