One of Five Preps Out Of NBA Draft

One of the five high school seniors who declared for the 2002 NBA draft has withdrawn his name from consideration and will be heading to college this fall.
Brandon Roy (right), the 6-5, 185 pound swingman from Garfield High School in Seattle, WA, advised the NBA prior to this week's deadline to remove his name from the draft list. He was joined by 23 college underclassmen and under-age international players. Roy will be at the University of Washington for the 2002-03 season.

The other four preps who declared for the draft, DeAngelo Collins, Lenny Cooke, Giedrius Rinkevicius and Amare Stoudemire, along with 44 other early entrees will be among the players considered by the NBA in the two-round draft which will be held Wednesday, June 26th, at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
One these preps, Giedrius Rinkevicius, has not been reported to have hired an agent and thus can take advantage of the rule change that permits him to regain his college eligibility if he doesn't sign with a pro squad, agent, etc.
