One More Challenge For SF

Reggie Butler, a very athletic 6-6, 205 pound small forward from Long Beach Poly H.S. in Long Beach, Calif., told us he chose Fresno State because it was close to home. "It's about a three-hour drive," Butler said. "So I can get home rather easily compared to the other schools on my list."
In the summer, Maryland, Arizona, and Connecticut were recruiting him hard. But as the season progressed, these schools landed other players.

One reason that schools were at first hesitant to offer Butler is that he did not take the SAT test during his junior year.
"I am close on it now," Butler said. "I take it again in June."
Butler has a strong background in track, and that's evident once you watch him run and jump on the basketball court. His combination of speed, athleticism and long arms make him an offensive threat anywhere near the basket. As his wing skills continue to develop and improve, he could truly develop into a special prospect.
"I want to work on my handle to I can play the shooting guard position," Butler said. "Then I will go to Fresno State in July to start some summer school courses."
