Once bitten twice Buckeye

With commitments happening earlier and earlier, decommitments have become more commonplace. What is still relatively rare, though, is for a player to commit to the school he parted ways with a second time. But that's exactly what Mickey Mitchell did on Thursday night when he selected Ohio State for a second time.

A four-star small forward from Plano (Texas) West, Mitchell initially committed to the Buckeyes over a year ago. It seemed a perfect marriage given that his older brother Mike had committed to play football from the class of 2013.
However, Mike transferred after his freshman season and about a month ago Mickey decided that it would be time for him to look elsewhere and it was expected that he would end up back closer to home in Texas.
Something funny happened along the way, though, Thad Matta and his staff continued to let Mitchell know that they would love to have him and they were aided by a very close friend of Mitchell's. Fellow Texan and Ohio State commit Austin Grandstaff stayed on his close friend to consider the Buckeyes and last weekend the four-star shooting guard convinced Mitchell to take an official visit with him to Columbus.
Turns out that was just what Mitchell needed as he announced on Thursday that he was once again committed to Ohio State.
Riddled by injuries for the past few years, Mitchell hasn't been able to play at 100
percent in some time. Because of that he has slid some in the rankings to No. 91 nationally. However, he is a very strong wing with outstanding passing ability and he's a creative player. If he can get back to full health, he has a chance to move back up the rankings and regardless of ranking he is an intriguing prospect for the Buckeyes because they can move him all over the floor because of his strength and size.
With Mitchell back in the fold, the Buckeyes have commitments from a quartet of four-star players. In addition to Mitchell and Grandstaff, big man Daniel Giddens and point guard A.J. Harris have made early commitments to Ohio State.
