The class of 2017 is full of players such as four-star combo guard Collin Sexton, prospects who have used the spring to boost their stock. Today we take a look at 11 from the class of 2017 who stand out as players on the rise.

Savion Flagg

Recruitment: Recent offers from Texas, Wake Forest, Miami, Pittsburgh, TCU, Florida, Houston, Kansas State and SMU. Texas A&M, Creighton and Virginia Tech offered months ago.

Bossi’s take: Flagg has everything you look for physically in a high major wing recruit. Good size, he’s athletic and he has long arms. He plays with a tremendous motor, can slash and is a respectable jump shooter. Look for him to enter the next Rivals150 as a four-star prospect.

Anthony Gaines

Recruitment: Offers from Cincinnati, Providence, Monmouth, Dayton and others.

Bossi’s take: There isn’t anything flashy about how Gaines has gone about his business with the Albany City Rocks. He can score off the dribble, has a terrific all-around game and is a glue guy who makes winning plays on both ends of the floor.

Marcus Garrett

Recruitment: Offers from Kansas, Kansas State, TCU, SMU, Baylor, Texas, Oklahoma State and others.

Bossi’s take: I could see Garrett eventually contending for a McDonald’s All-American spot and he’s going to get consideration for a bump to five-star status. He’s got tremendous size, is as good a defender as I’ve seen at the point and makes good decisions. He’s oozing with upside, there just aren’t many who have seen him.

Kellan Grady

Recruitment: Committed to Davidson.

Bossi’s take: A skilled guard, Grady has made an excellent choice to attend Davidson. He’s smart and works over defenders when he’s off the ball and, once he catches it, he gets into triple threat and goes to work. He shoots with range and is good off the dribble.

Quade Green

Recruitment: Kansas, Baylor, Villanova, Syracuse, Oklahoma, Louisville, Arizona, Michigan State, Maryland, Connecticut and many other offers.

Bossi’s take: Green is a pure point guard who runs his team and gets everybody where they need to be. He has earned consideration for five-star status. He keeps his bigs happy, plays excellent on-the-ball defense and he doesn’t make many mistakes. What’s most impressive is that he was considered more of a scorer – which he can still do – earlier in his high school career.

Jaren Jackson

Recruitment: Pittsburgh, Alabama, Maryland, Michigan State, Purdue, Notre Dame, Indiana, Butler, Georgetown and others have offered.

Bossi’s take: We’ve mentioned it multiple times this spring, but Jackson is arguably the most improved player in the class of 2017. At about 6-foot-10 he has skill, an ideal basketball body type, he seems to still be growing and he’s showing new wrinkles each time out. The rate he’s going, Jackson could make a legitimate push for the national top 15.

Jordan Nwora

Recruitment: Memphis, Temple, VCU, Florida State, Connecticut, Xavier, Seton Hall, Florid and others have offered.

Bossi’s take: Nwora won’t win many dunk contests or blow you away with quickness, but his skill level and jump shooting are certainly impressive. He is particularly deadly from the corners and with his 6-foot-7 size can play as a wing or a stretch four man.

Mitchell Robinson

Recruitment: Recently decommitted from Texas A&M. LSU and North Carolina have reached out.

Bossi’s take: A big-time shot blocker, Robinson has been hovering around five-star status for most of his high school career. During the next rankings update he will break that barrier. He needs strength but is the best shot blocker in 2017, has athleticism and rapidly improving offense.

Collin Sexton

Recruitment: Alabama, Arizona, Kansas, Florida, Auburn, Georgia, Texas, Missouri, Oklahoma State and other offers.

Bossi’s take: Sexton is another for whom we need to consider a bump to five-star status. He’s high energy, gets to the rim, is a streaky jump shooter and plays with little regard for his own personal safety. I wish I was a little older back when James “Hollywood” Robinson was doing his thing at Alabama, but from what I remember of him I can see similarities with Sexton.

Nate Watson

Recruitment: Maryland, Kansas, Georgetown, Cincinnati, Virginia Tech, Marquette, Wake Forest and others have offered.

Bossi’s take: When I saw Watson during the high school season I thought he was solid but borderline as a high major prospect. There’s nothing borderline about him at this point. He’s strong, has a great feel for low post scoring and plays tough on both ends of the floor.

Nick Weatherspoon

Recruitment: Mississippi State (where his brother plays) is considered the favorite while Louisville, N.C. State, Georgia, Alabama, Iowa State and LSU have offered.

Bossi’s take: Weatherspoon has always been athletic and aggressive. Now, he’s showing that he can possibly play the point at the college level which adds a new dimension to his game. His shot selection often boils down to whether or not there’s something in his hands that feels like leather, but give me a kid who is too aggressive over too passive any day of the week.
