Ole Miss May Sign 2003 Big Man
Head coach Steve Smith told RivalsHoops.com Monday morning that big man Jarvelle Scott (formerly referred to as Warren Scott), a 6-foot-7, 240-pound power forward from Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia, may sign soon with Ole Miss.
"Before Ole Miss was thinking about waiting on Javelle's test score," Smith said. "But they may decide to sign him before we know his test score. If he doesn't make it, then Louisiana-Lafayette may take him."

For several weeks, Smith has indicated that Scott was leaning heavily to Mississippi. "He would love to play there," Smith said. "But he is trying hard to get his test score. If he does, he will probably sign with Mississippi."
Scott, who played last season at Abramson H.S. in New Orleans, La., had been offered last Fall by Ole Miss and Tulane. Ole Miss tried to get Scott to sign but Javelle did not ink a letter of intent.
Last season at Abramson, Scott averaged 19 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks per game. This season, Scott averaged eight points and five rebounds. "He got better as the season went on," Smith said. "Javelle can play division one basketball. He has nice size and can do the job."
