Oklahoma began its 2021 class on Sunday thanks to the commitment from a Rivals150 prospect that hails from the state. Three-star guard Bijan Cortes gave his verbal commitment to the Sooners, giving the Big 12 bunch another versatile guard that can both playmake and shoot.

Cortes held offers from North Texas, Oklahoma State, TCU and Tulsa. He sits as the as the final member found within the Rivals150 and as the 31st best point guard prospect in the 2021 class. He has taken a handful of unofficial visits to OU within the past calendar year.

Living close to an hour drive from the Norman campus, Cortes is a gifted playmaker that brings added size to the backcourt. The 6-foot-2 junior is someone that can play either guard position thanks to the consistency that he shoots to the perimeter, but is a more than capable playmaker that is a solid distributor in the half-court setting.

In the fall of 2021, Cortes is expected to fill the scholarship that will be left over by Austin Reaves once he graduates. He will be expected to fill a shot making role early on and should bring added toughness to the backcourt.

The current junior class could be a big one for OU with the potential need to fill four roster spots. They have already laid out the proper foundation in the recruitments of Rivals150 prospects Nolan Hickman, Manny Obaseki, Trey Alexander and Daimion Collins.
