Three-star center Brett Thompson is pushing 7-feet, and the skilled big man from Vienna (Ill.) High School is racking up high-major offers.
Purdue, Indiana, Notre Dame, Northwestern, Cincinnati, Iowa State, Missouri State, Southern Illinois and Bradley have all offered the 6-foot-11, 265-pound Thompson according to his high school coach Rick Metcalf.
"Brett has 12 offers on the table right now," said Coach Metcalf. "Coach Izzo has been in to see him as well as the old Michigan staff and Alabama. I've also taken calls from Florida, Arizona State and Arizona."
After playing with the St. Louis Eagles travel squad last summer, Thompson will man the middle for the Illinois Warriors this summer.
This high school season, Thompson averaged 16 points, 12 rebounds and eight blocks per game while shooting 41 percent from the three-point line.
"Brett needs to go through the recruiting process," said Metcalf. "He is still getting better and better. He just turned 17. He has a lot of finesse to his game. He can bring the ball up the court and really shoots it and passes it well."
