FORT MYERS, FLORIDA -- One of the best juniors in the class of 2003 showed his great skills today at the City of Palms Classic. Leon Powe, who many expect to try and make a run from the high school level to the NBA milestone when he graduates in 2003, scored 27 points to lead Oakland Tech past Abramson, 85-58.
Powe, who led all scorers with his effort, also pulled down seven rebounds. Teammates Armondo Surrat had 18 points and sophomore Quinton Thomas had 10 points for the winners. Surrat has already signed a letter of intent with Fresno State.
Johnny Lewis led the losers with 20.
We will have more from this tournament classic later tonight.
