NY Guard Still Open

Mitchell Beauford, a 5'11'' 180 pound combo guard from Christ the King High School in Middle Village, New York, is an explosive leaper and one of the better on-the-ball defenders in the class of 2003 coming out of New York City.
Beauford's combination of quickness, strength, and physicality spell trouble for opposing players. Mitchell is unafraid to mix it up; he has a football background. He is quick off his feet. Beauford has quick hands on the defensive end. He has done a stand-up job neutralizing some of the better players in the rugged New York Catholic League this season, among them Archbishop Molloy's Sundiatta Gaines, who has gotten some high major sniffs.

Beauford is more scorer than shooter. His jumper is streaky. He gets a good chunk of his points in transition, off of steals and otherwise.
Beauford has fielded some preliminary interest from schools like Siena, American, and Manhattan. Manhattan coach Bobby Gonzalez was on hand last Tuesday to give Beauford a look against Brooklyn's Xaverian High School, featuring Chris Taft.
Mitch has attained a qualifying SAT score of 820. His core situation is still up in the air.
A native of Long Island, Beauford plays on the AAU circuit with The Sonday Express, coached by Christ the King assistant Artie Cox, and The Long Island Roadrunners.
