Numerous Schools Watching Wright

Although a jump straight to the NBA is a distinct possibility for the No. 2 ranked player in the class of 2006 Brandan Wright, numerous coaching staffs are coming to Nashville, Tenn., to watch the 6-foot-9, 195-pound combo forward from Brentwood Academy workout.
“Coach Davis from Indiana is coming in today to watch Brandan workout,” said Brentwood Academy head coach George Pitts. “Buzz [Coach Peterson from Tennessee] was in here last week. [Assistant] Coach Ramsey from Michigan was in here yesterday. [Coach] Amaker has been here, but he wasn’t here yesterday. And Tubby [Coach Smith from Kentucky] is coming in tomorrow.”

Wright gave the impression this summer that he was focused primarily on Kentucky, Duke, and North Carolina. That might not actually be the case now according to Coach Pitts.
“He seems pretty level headed and open right now,” said Coach Pitts. “He actually is going to Tennessee this weekend on an unofficial visit.”
When asked how Wright has looked during his preseason workouts, Coach Pitts had a succinct answer.
“He’s looking good,” he said with a laugh. “He has gotten a little stronger. He told me he was at 195 now.”
Full of NBA potential, Wright is a tremendous shot blocker and a very good rebounder. His wing span of 7-foot-1.5 allows him to play above his opponents, and rarely does he turn the ball over. His skinny frame can be out muscled, and he needs to learn to hold his ground defensively and not always go for the shot block and learn to post up harder on offense. He has a nice shot out to 17 feet.
Coach Davis of Indiana will also meet with the mother of Jamont Gordon while in Nashville today. Indiana is making a push to recruit Gordon, the No. 15 ranked player in the Rivals150. Gordon is spending his senior season at Oak Hill Academy.
