New head coach Chris Collins picked a perfect day to light some recruiting fireworks at Northwestern.

On a day known for celebration, Collins and his staff started things early by landing four-star small forward Victor Law.
A 6-foot-6 rising senior at Chicago (Ill.) St. Rita who ranks No. 85 in the 2014 Rivals150, Law had taken a recent visit and decided Northwestern had everything he needed in a school.
"Northwestern was just a great pick because of the proximity to home and the fact that it is such a great academic school," Law told Rivals.com. "You throw in Chris Collins and his amazing staff, what a great mix."
Law is a fantastic start to Northwestern's recruiting efforts in the class of 2014. Not only is he local, he's talented and should be able to help out right away.
He can step out and shoot from the wing, runs the floor well and doesn't make many mistakes. A big 6-foot-6, Law is also versatile enough to play some as a stretch four and is a good rebounder on the wing.
With Law on board, the Wildcats hope he can help lure top 50 point guard Tyler Ulis. Like Law, Ulis is local and he's also a summer teammate of Law's on Meanstreets and there's no doubt Law will be working on him some this summer.
