Northern Playing Waiting Game

Daniel Northern, a 6-foot-8, 200 pound forward from Houston County HS in Warner-Robins, GA is waiting. With the November 12 signing date quickly approaching, Northern is waiting on one school to offer. If he doesn’t get the offer he wants, he’ll wait some more.
“I’m being recruited by a lot of schools but my two favorites right now are South Florida and South Carolina,” Northern said. “They are my favorites only because I’ve been to them already on visits.”

Northern took a trip to Columbia last weekend and enjoyed his time with the SEC school. He talked about their style of play and liked the team’s vision of allowing him to play both forward spots. The coaching staff really impressed him, he said. The Gamecocks are still holding onto a scholarship offer, leaving Northern in a wait-and-see mindset.
“If South Carolina offered me, I’d probably commit to them,” Northern said. “But I’d like for them to make up their mind and figure out what they want to do with their last scholarship. I know they are down to a guard or a forward. If they go with a forward, then I’d like to sign with them early. I’ve always dreamed of playing in the SEC.”
“I may sign late and the only way I sign late is if South Carolina doesn’t offer me. If they don’t I’ll wait and consider South Florida a lot more.
“Plus, If I wait, then I might have a lot more schools to chose from,” Northern said. Florida State, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Auburn and Georgia still write “on a daily basis”, according to Northern.
Northern said he also enjoyed his trip to South Florida and had a chance to talk to professors in the business management classes as well as watching the Bulls practice.
The lanky forward will take his third official visit this weekend when he visits John Pelphrey and the South Alabama Jags. Northern said he’s considering Clemson for his fourth visit and keeping his fifth trip open just in case he decides on a late decision.
