The 6-foot-6 swingman verbally comitted to Cal during the early signing period while he was a senior at Riordan High School. He did not meet the NCAA academic requirement and, while he briefly entertained the idea of signing with Utah as a partial qualifier, he opted instead to attend MCI. Kately recently completed summer courses to shore up is core GPA.
Marquise was the #1 rated college prospect in Northern California in the Class of 2002. He is currently ranked fifth in the nation among small forwards in the Class of 2003 and 31st overall. Kately is an exceptionally athletic slasher with a potent midrange game and ability to score in a variety of ways.
Kately was actually the catalyst which enabled Braun to sign other NorCal top prospects Leon Powe and Ayinde Ubaka and more are sure to follow.
