No Offer Yet For Chris Taft

Despite a published report which quoted Chris Taft as saying he had an offer from UNC, our sources in the ACC state that the Tar Heels have not offered this outstanding forward a scholarship -- yet.
Power forward/center Chris Taft of Xaverian High School in Brooklyn, New York is one of the best players in the 2003 class. UNC did take an in school visit with Taft.

But our sources maintain that Taft has not been offered a free ride. Sources tell us that Taft needs to work some things out before an offer can be presented. However, our ACC sources do say that an offer could come down the road for Taft from UNC. It just hasn't happened right now.
Several schools have already taken in school visits with Taft. Among them: Georgia Tech, Syracuse, Wake Forest, North Carolina, Georgia, Villanova, St. John's, Miami of Florida, and Pittsburgh. Taft has also expressed interest in Connecticut, Maryland, Kentucky, Louisville, Seton Hall, and Virginia. In other words, this race is wide open.
Taft has no leader right now. He plans on playing for Tiny Morton and his AAU program. Morton is also the head coach of Lincoln High School -- the same school that features Sebastian Telfair and Elliah Clarke -- both division one players as well.
