Nixon Plans To Wait

Nathan Nixon, (number 54 in photo), a 6-10, 200 pound power forward/center from Bandera (TX) High School, was very pleased with his last campus visit, according to his father, Dana.
Nixon visited Bethany College, an NAIA school in California. "Nathan had a great time in California when he visited Bethany," Mr. Nixon said. "To his surprise there was a very quality program in place. Most of the players were D-1 transfers or players that had been courted by many D-1 schools."

"He did get a solid offer from the coach for a full athletic scholarship and was asked to sign this month. He is weighing that option, but he wants to see what happens in the upcoming couple of months," he added.
Boise State, UTEP and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi have been the most consistent among the Division I schools.
"I thought he was ducking more to get in the door so I made him stand still and measured him. He has grown another three quarters of an inch and stands 6 feet 9 inches and ¾ bare footed and he put on another five pounds," Mr. Nixon added.
Nixon is a good student with a 3.4 GPA and has a qualifying SAT score. He plans to major in busines management.
Nixon told us earlier that his high school golf team has won the district championship in each of his three years. "I'm focusing on basketball," he said then. "Golf is for the future.
