Nick Fitzgerald Back Home Again

Nick Fitzgerald is back home again in more ways than one.
After spending two years on an LDS mission from 1999-2001, Fitzgerald is back in his home state of Utah to attend Salt Lake C.C. The 6-9, 230 pound power forward center has also decided to re-sign with Southern Utah, which is the school that he played at in 1998-99 prior to embarking on his mission.

In the meantime, Fitzgerald will cut his teeth this year in the rugged Scenic West Athletic Conference, one of the nation's premiere junior college basketball leagues, before going back to Southern Utah.
According to Salt Lake Asst. Coach Andy Ward, Fitzgerald plans to sign this fall with Southern Utah.
Fitzgerald could have opted to reopen his commitment upon returning from his mission, but Ward said he saw many positive things in the Southern Utah program which made him feel comfortable to once again cast his lot with the school.
"He went there and met with the team," Ward explained. "He felt good about going back. There was never any doubt that was what he wanted to do, but the trip reaffirmed that."
Last year, Southern Utah collected the automatic bid of the Mid-Continent Conferennce to the NCAA Tournament.
