Niakate Is Perimeter Marksman

Modibo Niakate, a 6-0, 160 pound shooting/combo guard from Hutchinson C.C. in Hutchinson, Kan., was one of five Blue Dragon players to average in double figures this past season.
Niakate, a native of Paris, France, played his high school ball in the state of Illinois before transferring into Hutchinson two years ago. He actually attended Washington College Prep in Limestone, Tenn., for half a year before enrolling into Hutchinson.

A fine perimeter marksman, Niakate averaged 10 points per game on a very balanced Hutch squad this past season. While he can bring the ball up on offense, he's more suited to play off the ball than run the point.
Hutch Asst. Coach Eric Duft told JUCO Junction/Rivalshoops.com that Tennessee-Martin has expressed an interest in Niakate this winter.
A solid student, Niakate is expected to graduate in the spring, and we'll keep you abreast on his recruitment in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.
