Next Star Guard At St. Raymonds

It appears that when Allan Ray, the outstanding 6-0 combo guard from St. Raymond's, leaves Gary DeCesare's nest next year for Villanova, that ready to step in is Tariq Atkins.
Tariq is a 6-2, 180-pound junior guard from St. Raymond's High School in Bronx, New York who put on a solid display of a balanced offensive game yesterday against a talented Amityville High School program.

Atkins, who had to pick up the offense due to Allan Ray sitting out the game due to a broken foot, has really progressed in his game over the past year.
Tariq is much more active with the ball offensively and has a greater degree of confidence in his shot. Atkins showed a nice perimeter game yesterday in his team's tough loss to Amityville High School of Long Island.
Atkins hit for 19 points, including three three-pointers. He showed some nice moves off his dribble to free himself up and Atkins uses the glass effectively as well when taking his jumper.
If he continues to improve individually, you can expect schools like Iona, St. John's, Seton Hall, Rutgers, Connecticut, Hofstra, Syracuse, and Villanova to monitor his progress.
In fact, Iona, St. John's, and Villanova had coaches on hand. They had to be impressed with Atkins and his play against a very good Amityville backcourt.
