Newest Husky will prep for a year

During the Nike Memorial Day Classic, Andrew Andrews sliced up the St. Louis Eagles making onlookers take notice. Washington heard about that and did their homework in following up on Andrews and ultimately scoring a commitment.
A solid, versatile and tough six-foot point guard from Portland (Ore.) Benson, Andrews said that Washington had been involved for a while.

"We've been talking to them for a couple of months and me and my mom and my coaches thought it was the best fit for me," said Andrews about why he committed to Washington.
Currently a senior at Benson, Andrews will actually be a part of Lorenzo Romar's 2012 class. He'll complete his senior year in Portland and then head to prep school for a post-graduate year.
"It will help to clear out some of the guards there because they've got a lot," said the three-star point guard. "By the time I get there some guys will be cleared out. I want to work on being stronger and quicker, my flexibility and playing better competition."
Though he comes from off of the national radar, Andrews is sure of his ability and knows that his game isn't perfect.
"I'm pretty much a well rounded point guard who can score," said Andrews. "My biggest weakness is my lateral quickness, being able to open up my hips because I had a torn hip flexor. My biggest strength is being able to distribute to teammates and still score."
