New York big man setting visits

Three high-major schools will receive official visits from Brad Sheehan, a 6-foot-10, 215-pound big man from Latham High School in Shaker, N.Y. The three-star prospect is making plans to see all three programs and a number of other schools are trying to make a push for his final two trips.
Georgia Tech, Syracuse and Virginia all look to get an official visit from Sheehan, he said on Monday night. All three programs have also tendered a scholarship, according to Sheehan.

The next step for the big fella is hitting the highways and airways to see all three schools. Syracuse, the first high-major school to offer, has a tentative date set on Sept. 17. Sheehan said he's always enjoyed watching the Orange.
"I've always been a fan of them," Sheehan said. "Growing up so close to them, everyone knows about Syracuse. I've gotten to know their players and their coaches pretty well."
Will Syracuse's swift scholarship offer hold some weight in the decision making process?
"I wouldn't say that they have an advantage only because they are closer than the other schools," Sheehan said. "They've been out to see me workout at the high school and they just happened to be one of the first to see me."
On Sept. 24, Sheehan will travel to Charlottesville, Va., and visit UVA. Cavalier assistant coaches Steve Seymour and Rob Lanier are taking advantage of a close relationship with the big man.
"They were the first two coaches to really fall in love with me. When they got the job at UVA, they told coach (Dave) Leitao about me," Sheehan said. "I've known them since my freshman year when they were both at Sienna. I've got a good relationship with them.
"With them being in the ACC, it's a big draw," Sheehan said.
Speaking of the hoops crazy conference, Sheehan said Georgia Tech has caught his attention.
"They are in the ACC and they are always in the middle of the pack or near the top," Sheehan said. "I've known about Coach (Paul) Hewitt from his days at Sienna. He's one of the best coaches in the country. I think it would be fun to play for him. I talk to Coach (Peter) Zaharis a lot too."
Sheehan said he'll definitely visit Georgia Tech but an exact date has not been set in stone.
Rice, Xavier, St. Bonaventure and Penn State (who offered Sheehan after seeing him in July) are all vying for the four and fifth visit.
"I'll probably decide a week after my visits," Sheehan said. "I want to find the place where I fit the best."
Simple enough.
