New Schools Involved with Gordon

Kansas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma are all coming on strong in the recruitment of 2005 prospect Jamont Gordon according to his high school coach Steve Wright.
“Kansas is coming in tomorrow to visit with me,” said Coach Wright of Glencliff High School in Nashville, TN. “I have been talking to [assistant coach] Dooley, but it looks like [associate head coach] Roberts will be coming in. Arkansas has been calling a lot, and Oklahoma has been corresponding about everyday.”

Tennessee, who has offered a scholarship to Gordon and been involved with the 6-foot-4, 215-pound shooting guard since the beginning of his recruitment, watched him score 30 points, grab 24 rebounds, dish out 12 assists, and block 7 shots in Glencliff’s 74-71 win over McGavock High School Friday night. Gordon’s strong performance came the night after a disappointing 11 point performance in a 28 point loss to a stingy Hillsboro High School defense.
“Tennessee wants him bad,” said Coach Wright, who has strong family ties in the Knoxville area. “And you know, it would not be a bad place for him to end up. Jamont is going to wait awhile, but I know that Tennessee will be right up there when he does make a decision.”
Another interesting development in Gordon’s situation is the possibility of him playing his senior season at Oak Hill Academy in order to ensure that he qualifies academically.
“We are doing the paper work right now for Oak Hill,” said Coach Wright.
Gordon, the No. 25 player in the Rivals75 for the class of 2005, has been listing Louisville, Tennessee, and Memphis as his three favorites, while Alabama, Illinois, and Indiana are also in the mix for Gordon.
On a side note, Coach Roberts from Kansas will be attending the second showdown between 2006 prospect Brandon Wright’s Brentwood Academy team and 2005 prospect Tyler Smith’s Giles Co. team later tomorrow night.
