New Schools Interested in Corey Allen

Corey Allen has seen the number of schools involved in his recruitment steadily increase throughout his junior year. The 6-foot-5, 200-pound shooting guard/small forward from Central Catholic High School in Portland, OR., is in no rush to make a decision about his future, but Allen also realizes that there will come a time when he needs to focus more of his attention towards the recruiting process.
“I would say that Corey’s recruitment is really starting to heat up,” Central Catholic High School head coach Steve Halligan said. “Most of the WCC schools are showing interest, UC Santa Barbara, Pepperdine, DePaul, Louisville, Oregon and Oregon State happen to be some of the other schools really interested in Corey. I really do not know if he is receiving any mail at home, but I know that I receive a lot of mail here at school from a number of schools interested in Corey.

“Corey has gone through the recruiting process with his mother and grandfather, but no decisions have been made about what schools he will visit, or the number of official visits he will actually take,” he added. “This is something Corey is going to take his time with. I think you will see a number of schools get involved in his recruitment during the summer months, so we will see what happens after that.”
Allen has been a consistent performer throughout his career at Central Catholic, put people outside of the Oregon region are just beginning to take notice. He has been a starter since his sophomore year and was recently named the conference player of the year.
“Corey is such an important player,” Coach Halligan said. “He is right at about 6-foot-5, but he plays all five positions for us. He is extremely quick, has great post moves, handles the ball extremely well, can post up well and continues to become a better shooter from the outside.
“Corey is currently averaging 21.7 points a game this year,” he added. “He was just voted the conference player of the year as a junior, which says a lot about his abilities. He set the career scoring mark last year for most points scored in a single year. If we advance in the playoffs, Corey will probably break his own record.”
