New Schools Interested In Buttell

Despite the fact that Jeremy Buttell is faced with double and triple teams game in and game out, the 6-foot-7, 220-pound power forward from Colleyville Heritage High School in Colleyville, TX., continues to be a force on the court. Because of his work ethic and his desire to improve, a number of high major programs are interested in the fundamentally sound big man.
“Things are going really good for me right now. Coach Turner from Stanford told me that they want me to come out for a visit in the future,” Buttell said. “If I can score an 1100 on the SAT, I should have no problem getting accepted to Stanford. I took a practice test last week and scored 1100, so I have plenty of time to prepare for the actual test in March.

“Rice is a school that is seriously interested in me,” he added. “Harvard, Northwestern, New Mexico and Arizona State are some of the newer schools that have recently got involved in my recruitment. I would say that I’m wide-open at this point, but things are definitely going good.”
While Buttell is pleased with where his recruitment stands, he went on to add that his primary focus right now is making sure his team continues their winging ways. Since the early part of November, Colleyville Heritage High School has put together quite a winning streak.
“Oh, the season keeps getting better and better. We are 10-0 in district play and 22-4 overall. We have lost just once since November, so things are really going good for us as a team,” Buttell said. “We played the second best team in our district the other night and beat them by 22-points, so we’ve got control of first place.
“A lot of teams are double and triple teaming me, but I find a way to get the job done,” he added. “Most of my points come from outworking my defender, by posting up, spin moves, pulling up for jump shots and getting my hands on a few steals. I pulled up for a three point shot in a game the other night, so that is a shot I am capable of making. My ball handling skills have really improved and so has my ability to score off the dribble and finding ways to create my own shots.”
Illinois, Iowa, Oklahoma, Texas, Texas Tech, Virginia Tech, Bradley, SMU, TCU, UNC-Greensboro and New Hampshire have also expressed interest in Buttell.
