New Schools Calling On Newbold

Tyler Newbold, the 6-foot-5, 190-pound shooting guard from Payson High School in Payson, Utah., is still hearing from a small number of high major basketball institutions. While Nevada, Stanford and Indiana are the newest schools to express an interest in Newbold, none of the schools have extended a scholarship offer as of yet.
“Nevada, Stanford and Indiana are probably the newest schools to contact me. I spoke to coaches from Nevada and Indiana, but have not had time to return Stanford’s phone call. That is something I plan to do this week. Utah, Arizona State, Gonzaga, Wyoming and Utah State are the other schools that I like right now.

“Wyoming and Utah State are the only schools that have offered me a scholarship,” he added. Utah said they would offer me a scholarship if I agree to go on a two-year mission before enrolling in school. That is something I am definitely going to consider, but I do not know if that is something I will do.”
Rivals.com’s No. 140 ranked player in the class of 2005 plans to take at least two official visits before making a final decision about his future. Newbold indicated that he is seriously interested in visiting a number of schools in the fall.
“Gonzaga, Stanford and Colorado are the schools that I would like to visit,” Newbold said. “I will definitely take two or three visits in the fall, but I don’t know if I will use all five. If I am still undecided after taking a couple of visits, I will schedule more visits until a decision is made.”
