New School Offers Bernard

Chris Bernard, a cagey 6'2'', 162 pound combo guard from St. Edmund's High School in Brooklyn and The New York Gauchos AAU program, has a couple of mid-majors keeping tabs on him this summer.

Bernard is still hearing from Iona and Rider, and a new school has emerged. Hartford is now pursuing Bernard. The America East school has offered. Bernard does not have any trips planned for the near future.

Chris is a wiry combo who is fast in the open floor and wields a quick first step. He is a streaky shooter. Bernard's athleticism and body control aid him on trips to the rack. However, it is on the perimeter where Chris will probably find his niche at the college level. He will need to pack some beef onto his spindly frame for college play, as his lack of strength sometimes becomes apparent on slashing drives, despite his quickness and athleticism.

Chris missed the entire AAU travel circuit because he attended summer school. Chris carries a 76 average in the classroom. Rivals Hoops plans on seeing Chris next at The Gauchos Roundball Classic during the first week of September.
