New school calling on Bay

Just when it looked like Kalvin Bay had a good feel for where his recruitment stood, a new team entered into the picture late last week. A coach from the University of New Mexico is scheduled to meet with Bay, the 6-foot-2, 170-pound point guard from Tempe, Ariz., on Thursday afternoon.
"New Mexico called late last week and said that they were looking for a point guard," said Marcos de Niza head coach Dave Stark. "After talking to New Mexico last week, they have decided to come out and meet with Kalvin on Thursday at 5:00 PST.

"I do believe that an official visit to New Mexico will take place," he added. "We will have to wait and see what happens during Thursday's meeting, but I can tell you that New Mexico is very interested in Kalvin."
While quite a few high-major schools are showing an interest in Bay, the three-star prospect, it appears that his recruitment is starting to take shape. After taking an official visit to CS Northridge last week, it is almost assured that Bay will visit Iowa during the weekend of October 22. In addition, the 6-foot-2 point guard will officially visit Southern California during the weekend of October 28.
"I really think that Kalvin had a good time during his visit to CS Northridge," said Stark. "I believe he worked out with the team and did an open gym session with the other players. Kalvin did enjoy himself during the visit.
"It was his first official visit of the year, so he needs to take some more visits in order to compare each of the schools on his list," he added. "It looks like he will be visiting Iowa later on this month and I definitely know that a visit to Southern California is going to happen. I would imagine that Kalvin will probably take a visit to New Mexico as well."
