New Mexico St. Lands Simpson, Jr.

There was a time when Delbert Simpson, Jr., had planned to take his time with the recruiting process. The 6-foot-9, 210-pound power forward from John Tyler High School in Tyler, TX., didn’t want to rush a decision before making sure he knew that decision was the correct one. Well, it appears that Simpson, Jr., has waited long enough, as he’s given a commitment to New Mexico State.
"Yes, Delbert has given a commitment to New Mexico State,” John Tyler Head Coach Carol Love said. “He called me late last night and told me what was going on. There have been many mad coaches calling today because Delbert still had several visits scheduled, but he’s canceled those visits.

“I think it’s a case where he just wanted to get his recruitment over with and end the entire process,” he added.
Simpson happened to be in gym when we spoke with Coach Love, so he spent a few minutes on the phone and gave a little more detail into his situation.
“I had my in-home visit with New Mexico State last night and enjoyed everything about that visit,” Simpson said. “I was ready to end my recruitment and I knew that New Mexico State was the place for me.
“There were other schools that I really liked, but none more than New Mexico State,” he added. “Again, I couldn’t be happier with this decision.”
