The pool of high level big men shrunk by one on Thursday night when the nation's No. 32 player Goodluck Okonoboh announced his college decision.
A 6-foot-10 center from Boston who is prepping at Wilbraham (Mass.) Wilbraham & Monson, Okonoboh took to the airwaves of ESPNU to announce that he is headed to UNLV.
The high end four-star prospect just finished up his official visit to Sin City and Dave Rice and his staff left an impression on Okonoboh that he couldn't shake.
While Okonoboh felt comfortable with Rice and his staff, the fact that the Rebels offer an excellent style fit was hugely important.
A sleek athlete with above average athleticism, Okonoboh is a rim to rim big guy who thrives in an up and down setting. He makes up for teammates mistakes by erasing shots at the rim, snatches rebounds with both hands above rim level and is a violent dunker with developing touch on offense.
There are times where he can lose focus and not quite impact the game the way he is capable of and Okonoboh needs to strengthen his base a little. However, no matter how one looks at it he is a huge pickup for the Rebels.
With Okonoboh onboard, UNLV is on their way to putting together a monster class. Five-star swingman Dwayne Morganis already onboard and the Rebels can now fully lock in on five-star shooting guard Rashad Vaughn who will visit officially in November and has the Rebels amongst his favorites.
