Neverson White Is Versatile Prospect

One of the more versatile prospects at this past weekend's 2001 California Fall JUCO Showcase was Neverson White, a 6-5, 195 pound guard/forward from L.A. Valley C.C. in California.
White can do a lot of things on the basketball court. He has the ability to bring the ball up on offense and play some point, and his size allows him to finish consistently on his drives to the basket. He also showed the ability to finish with either hand at the rim this past weekend.

Although he can be a bit lazy defending the ball at times, White anticipates well and picks up cheap steals. He did not show a great stroke from the perimeter, but he is so effective operating with the ball in his hands from the wing that he did not hoist a lot of jumpers.
According to L.A. Valley Head Coach Doug Michelson, UNLV, Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan and Detroit have expressed an interest in White this fall.
White averaged 12.5 points per game as a freshman last year for the Monarchs. A true sophomore, White is 50/50 on graduating, according to Coach Michelson.
The earliest that White would graduate would be the summer of 2002, but he does have a red-shirt year to use next year if he fails to graduate and wants to play on the Division I level.
White is a native of Michigan.
