Rivals150 forward Nesmith closing in on decision

Aaron Nesmith was one of the many prospects to boost his stock over the summer with his play during the live recruiting periods in July. He received offers from programs all over the country, but it didn’t take long for him to start locking in on the recruiting process and moving forward with official visits.

Vanderbilt hosted Nesmith right out of the gates to begin August and Florida just had him on campus this weekend. Harvard and Yale hosted him on unofficial visits, and Georgia Tech had him on campus during June. Georgetown, South Carolina and Virginia Tech are still under consideration as well for the South Carolina native.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

Vanderbilt: “It was a lot of fun. It was my first official visit, so they showed me around and showed me a good time. The campus was beautiful. The staff was awesome. It seemed like they really wanted me and it was a lot of fun to be there.”

Florida: “Florida was a bit different. Gainesville is just Florida. The school itself is really good. I like the campus. It was really big and nice. There are a lot of sweet food spots around town. The basketball program is top-notch. The facilities are No. 1 in the country. The coaching staff is awesome and they all got along with the players really well. The players were awesome. I got to watch the fight with them in the film room, and that was a lot of fun. It was a good time down there as well.”

Harvard: “It was good when I went up there. They showed me around the campus and around their new gym. It was nice up there.”

South Carolina: “Well obviously their program is on the rise after making it to the Final Four and with what coach (Frank) Martin has been able to do with their guys. They are on me hard. I got a lot of people around here saying ‘Hey, you should go to South Carolina.' "

WHAT'S NEXT?

With two of his five allotted official visits out of the way, Nesmith could still take a few more trips. It doesn’t sound likely though that he’ll end up taking all five. From talking to him, he gave off the vibe that it might be one more visit and then a decision, or maybe not take another visit before making a decision. Georgetown, South Carolina and Virginia Tech are the schools he’s still thinking about checking out on an official visit.

RIVALS' REACTION

Nesmith appears to be relatively close to making a decision with Florida and Vanderbilt being the most likely options at this point. One way or another, expect Nesmith to end up playing in the SEC next year.
