Senior point guard Terrance Todd scored 17 points and 6-6 senior center Robert Layton added 14 points to lead Neptune to a 66-61 come from behind victory over Shawnee H.S.
Junior swingman Eugene Harris chipped in 13 points to go along with Dean's 10, as the Scarlet Fliers placed four players in double figures.
Shawnee led for the first three quarters, but Neptune came out strong in the fourth and took the lead for good on a Layton basket inside. That shot gave the Scarlet Fliers a 51-49 lead early in the fourth.
Consecutive three pointers by Dean and Harris allowed Neptune to build the lead to 57-51 with 4:28 remaining. The Renegades got no closer than three points the rest of the way.
Junior point/combo guard Bill Kurtz had an impressive showing for Shawnee, tossing in 25 points in a losing effort. Sophomore swingman Brett Johnson added 11 points while small forward Dan McDonald contributed 13 before fouling out in the second half.
Harvard-bound Zach Martin, a 6-4 senior, netted nine points for the Renegades.
