Middle School, 2017 guard R.J. Nembhard showed that he has the tools to
be reckoned with going forward.
Friday night, Rivals.com stopped just outside of Ft. Worth to watch the 6-foot-3
point guard from Keller High go through a skills workout. What he showed will
need to be replicated against competition down the road, but Nemhard looked like
a prospect worthy of the high majors who have been stopping by to see him work
out.
"Creighton, Texas, Texas A&M, Baylor and,
Tulsa and Wichita State ," Nembhard told Rivals.com when asked who has
stopped by this fall. " TCU, Louisiana Tech and
Kansas State have offered."
A very good athlete with long arms, Nembhard has created a buzz in the DFW area
and the reasons are evident. He can handle, he makes shots he is a high-end
athlete and he still has two years of high school left to hone his craft.
"I just to like create easy buckets for my teammates," said Nembhard. "I like to
put pressure on the defense in any situation. I can get quick buckets and play
intense defense. I'm comfortable wherever but I think I'm a point guard."
Point, shooting guard or combo, Nembhard's focus for improvement is all the
same.
"I want to focus all the time," said Nembhard. "And I think a consistent jump
shot I think I need to work on that."
So far, Nembhard says that he has seen TCU and Baylor. He has plans to visit
Texas and Texas A&M this winter but there is no rush for him to make a decision.
As it stands, he is thinking early signing period as senior for his timeframe to
make a decision and along with playing style, he will be looking for the life
connections a school can help him make.
"Up tempo, run and gun I like to play that style," said Nembhard. "I can play
half court and everything, but I like to play fast and pick up full court.
"I'm looking at the business management because that is what I want to major in.
Also how they treat their grads, when they want to come back and visit, when it
is time to go out after basketball do they have the tools to be successful."
