Nebraska scores late with Elijah Wood

After seeing a scholarship open connected with Kobe King’s decision to not enroll due to personal reasons, Nebraska filled its guard need with a late high school commitment. Three-star wing Elijah Wood has decided to reclassify back into the 2020 class and has given his verbal commitment to the Huskers.

A 6-foot-5 wing from the DMV, Wood was slated to take a prep year this fall at Hargrave Military Academy. Instead, Wood jumped at the offer that Nebraska had issued earlier this spring. He is a former Rhode Island and Tulane recruit that had picked up offers from DePaul, Loyola Chicago, Providence and TCU last month.

Wood is a versatile wing that brings great promise to the backcourt. A solid, slashing scorer that can create his own offense in the half-court setting, Wood is a decent athlete that is a strong finisher at the rim but can also make shots to the perimeter. His size and length give the Huskers someone that can also defend more than just one position in the backcourt.

While Nebraska completed the majority of its work for next season via the transfer portal, Wood becomes its second high school commitment this spring and will join big man Eduardo Andre on campus in the coming weeks. The Huskers will see 11 newcomers see the floor next season that either sat out last year due to transfer restrictions or will spend their first year in Lincoln.
