Nebraska lands Kansas City point guard

Anybody who saw the KC 76er's play over the summer knows that they did a lot of damage. A huge part of that success was the leadership of Benny Parker.
Late Tuesday, the 5-foot-9 point guard from Kansas City (Kan.) Sumner Academy decided that he would take his leadership skills to Lincoln, Nebraska to play for Doc Sadler and the Huskers.

"When I went up there it was a great feel," Parker told Rivals.com. "I saw all of the facilities that they were getting and how much money they were putting into the program.
"I was close with the coaches because they were recruiting me for a while and then I got to know the players and it felt like the right situation."
The Huskers already hold a 2012 commitment from another Kansas City area prospect in Shavon Shields plus Kansas City natives Corey Hilliard and Brandon Ubel are already there. Parker said that so many kids he knows being in Lincoln didn't hurt.
"It kind of helped," said Parker. "You don't know anybody in college and it will be good for me to know somebody when I go up there."
A three-star point guard who is a ferocious on the ball defender, Parker has made a habit of proving those who say he can't do something because of his size wrong. But, size was never a worry for Doc Sadler.
"He's had good experience with small point guard, especially when they are competitive," said Parker. "That was a big thing for me to want to go there. I know he's not afraid to play little guys."
Most of all, Parker is happy to have his decision out of the way and the reigning All-Metro player is looking forward to his final season of high school.
"I'm glad that I don't have to worry about it anymore," said Parker. "All of the schools say the same thing but you really don't know what's true until you visit. Nebraska felt right and now I can focus on high school basketball."
